Auditions for "The Miracle Worker" - May 18th, 2008 from 6p-9p at the Depot

Auditions for Ole Olsen's first show of the 2008-2009 season are early this year for a number of reasons.

The play "The Miracle Worker" by Thomas Gibson will be presented in October, but auditions for the show will be Sunday, May 18th from 6-9 pm at the Peru Depot. Director Debby Mullikin explained that she wants to cast the main characters, Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, just as school gets out so the two can begin practicing together once a week through the summer months up until regular rehearsals begin in August. The roles are both very demanding and the pair will need to develop a level of trust to play out their physical scenes. The cast calls for the following:

• Helen Keller—girl age 8-14 lead role

• Annie Sullivan– woman age 25-35, Helen’s teacher, lead role

• Captain Keller– man age 50-60, Helen’s father, supporting role

• Kate Keller– woman age 25-35, Helen’s mother, supporting role

• James Keller—man age 20-30, Helen’s brother, supporting role

• Viney– woman any age, Keller’s maid, minor role

• Aunt Ev– woman age 40-60, Capt. Keller’s sister, minor role

• Percy– boy age 10-14, Viney’s son, minor role

• Martha– girl age 8-10, daughter of a servant, minor role

• Anagnos– man any age, Annie’s confidant, minor role

• Jimmy—boy age 8-12, Annie’s deceased brother, minor role

• Doctor– man any age, minor role

• Blind children– age 7-17, six parts, Annie’students, minor roles
