Auditions Announced for “A Christmas Carol” Adapted by Kurt Schindler

Christmas Carol Auditions Announced!

Wanted: 12 to 14 fun, positive and creatively adventurous performers of varying types, experience, and ages (9 and up) willing to form an ensemble and create this year’s Ole Olsen holiday show, “A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens”. This original adaptation has been written specifically for this production by director Kurt Schindler, and the script will be tailored to those cast. (Hence the early auditions.) Performers should be willing to appear on stage the entire show, portraying many characters and supplying narration, sound effects, and lighting. There is a lead part that is quite physical with hardly any dialogue

Those interested should attend auditions at the Peru Depot Friday, August 25th and Saturday, August 26th. Younger performers (9 to 15) should arrive at 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, with older attendees arriving 45 minutes later, 6:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. respectively.

Besides reading prepared scenes, those auditioning will be asked to sing “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen”. As this is not a musical, but a play with a little music, Non-singers should not worry. No one will be cut due to singing ability or forced to sing a solo in the show.

The rehearsal schedule will consist of three readings held during September and the first week of October, with regular rehearsals (3 to 4 a week) beginning October 10th. Performances are November 30th, December 1st through 3rd and 8th through 10th.
